Norman Joseph Sass Sr. passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 4:00 AM. at the age of 87. Beloved husband of 62 years to Laudist Olivier Sass. Loving Father to Norman Joseph Sass Jr. (Cheryl), Barry Anthony Sass (Elizabeth) and Peggy Ann Sass Stolf (Robert). Grandfather to Lauryn Bailey (Anthony), Kerryn Fanguy (Rob), Stacy Sass, Robert and Valerie Stolf, Step-grandfather to April and Lauren Stolf. Son of the late Maud Landry Sass and John F. Sass Sr. Brother of the late Alice Sass Kidd, Maud Sass Fuller, Leah Sass LeBatard, Louis, John Jr., Richard, Evelyn and Leslie (Eckie) Sass.
A native of New Orleans, Mr. Sass was a resident of St. Bernard Parish for 49 years. He retired from South Central Bell/AT@T as a PBX Repairman with 36 years of service. He proudly served in the US Navy (8th Battalion SeaBees) in the Pacific during WWII.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue Street, Chalmette, La. on Monday, June 27, 2011 from 9:30 AM until 12 Noon followed by a Funeral Mass in the Chapel. Interment in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.

My sincere condolence to Mr. Norman's family. I remember fishing at the camp in Hopedale and when doing A/C service for him in Chalmette, always enjoying his company. It was a pleasure to know him.
